Excavator Hire FAQS
Q: What size excavator do i need?
A: When using excavators to lift, a rule of thumb is approximately 5 to 10 percent of the machine weight is its capacity in any position including all attachments. For example, a Komatsu PC55MR-5 5 tonne excavator can lift approximately 380kg at full range.
Always check the operators manual and lift charts before lifting to ensure your machine is capable.
Q: Do you offer dry hire only, or can you supply an operator?
A: Heavy Duty Hire is a dry hire specialist — our excavators are supplied without an operator. This means you use your own ticketed operators on site. If you need help sourcing competent operators through our contractor network, get in touch and we can assist.
Q: What is the minimum hire period for excavators?
A: Our standard minimum hire period is one week. If you have a short-notice or urgent requirement, call us directly on 0452 692 150 — we will do our best to accommodate.
Q: Do you deliver to regional WA and remote mine sites?
A: Yes. We deliver and collect across all of Western Australia including Perth metro, regional WA, the Pilbara, Kimberley, Goldfields and South West. Delivery costs are quoted based on distance and logistics.
Q: Is your equipment mine-spec compliant?
A: Yes. Our excavators are maintained to manufacturer standards and can be supplied with service records, pre-start documentation, and compliance paperwork to support your site induction requirements. Let us know your site's specific requirements when you enquire.
Q: What size excavator do I need for civil trenching?
A: For standard utility trenching in residential subdivisions, a 1.7T or 5T machine is usually sufficient. For larger drainage work or civil packages requiring bulk earthmoving, the 14T or 20T will give you the production output you need. Call us and we will talk through your scope.
Q: How quickly can you mobilise an excavator?
A: In most cases we can mobilise within 24 to 48 hours for Perth metro. Regional mobilisation timelines depend on transport logistics. Call 0452 692 150 for availability. Same-day quotes are standard.
Q: Do you hire Komatsu and CASE excavators?
A: Yes. Our fleet includes Komatsu PC series and CASE CX series excavators across the 5T to 30T range. All machines are genuine OEM-maintained and come with manufacturer documentation.
